The New York Knicks made a quick trade this morning in which they swapped shooting guard Jamal Crawford for the Golden State Warriors for forward Al Harrington. And now they are completing a deal with the Clippers to send hard to get rid of forward Zach Randolph.
The Clippers are suspected to send Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley to New York. The Knicks are also going to throw in guard Mardy Collins.
Randolph, who is averaging 20.6 points so far this season, will give Baron Davis the Elton Brand he never had.
Many sources say this i! s the Knicks' way of preparing to sign LeBron James in 2009. They would be clearing $27 million. Smart guys. Even if they don't get LeBron, they could still get someone like Chris Bosh or Dwyane Wade. Any of those stars from the '03 draft class.
But 2010 sounds pretty far away from now. Until then, the Knicks are going to have to stick with Harrington and those other guys.
And another problem for the Knicks: they need to get rid of Stephon Marbury. He never plays, and his big fat contract is weighing the team down.
Elton Brand of the Philadelphia 76ers visits his former team {the Clippers} for the first time, since signing with the 76ers in the offseason, tonight.
