College Football Preview '08
The 2008 College Football Season begins this weekend and that means it is time for another preview. Here are my top teams in each conference along with teams to watch.
ACC: Virginia Tech Hokies
Sean Glennon was just announced as the starting QB and that was the right call. His experience can lead this team to an ACC title and yet another top bowl game. Their defense is solid, but they do lack playmakers on offense. They still look like the class of the ACC.
Big 12: Oklahoma Sooners
Bob Stoops always has a winning team in Oklahoma and this year they have a great chance to be champions. Texas and Missouri will be the best competition in the revitalized Big 12. QB Sam Bradford looks poised for a Heisman type season.
Big Ten: Ohio State Buckeyes
Two years in a row OSU has whalloped Big 10 competition and reached the BCS champinship game. But, two years in a row they have been pounded by and SEC team (Floirda and LSU). Ohio St! ate is still loaded with talent and should run away with the Big 10, but if they make the BCS titler game once again, expect another loss.
Big East: South Florida Bulls
This was a tough one. I can see West Virginia, South Florida, or Pittsburgh win this conference, but I am going with Bulls from USF. This cinderella is now a football powerhouse in the Big East.
Pac-10: USC Trojans
Let me check...yes Pete Carroll is still the coach at USC. Therefore yes USC will win the conference yet again. Until proven otherwise it is tough to pick against them. UCLA is ready to shock the world, but do not count on it. USC could be holding the BCS trophy when it is all said and done.
SEC: Florida Gators
The toughest conference in the land is the SEC. Florida, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, etc. Georgia is the #1 team in the land, but their off the field issues will give them difficulties. Therefore Tim Tebow and the Ga! tors win the SEC and earn a spot in the BCS Championship.
T eams to watch not previously mentioned:
Missouri Tigers
LSU Tigers
West Virginia Mountaineers
Clemson Tigers
Auburn Tigers
Texas Longhorns
Arizona St. Sun Devils
Wake Forest Demon Decons
There it is the cream of the college football crop in '08. Should be a great season.
